This is a vintage handwoven Filikli rug from Konya Province Turkey, made in the 1960's. Filikli rugs use the locks of hair of the Angora Goat to get this amazing silky, shaggy look.

They are traditionally woven in Karapinar, to the east of Konya, Turkey. The region is a half-desert like plain. To the north there are barren mountains with harsh winters. Villagers used Filikli rugs as floor coverings, bed blankets or wall hangings.
