This is a hand-spun, handwoven sheep wool kilim from the 1940, made by the Yoruk, Turkish Nomads. The Yoruk come down to the pastures by the coast in the winter and travel up into the high mountain plateaus of Anatolia in the summer.. Today many Yoruk have settled down to live in rural villages. Only about 200 them are still living a nomadic life.

They have retained their ancient skill in weaving sheep wool and goat hair into carpets and colorful clothing. 

This rug is excellent vintage condition.
